Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Saskia graduated Summa Cum Laude from Boston University in 2023 with a BA in English and a BM in Classical Vocal Performance. Storytelling is her passion and motivation; she is a writer and musician who loves to talk about words, sounds, and how we communicate. In the world of children's book publishing and non-profit music ensemble administration, she aims to help tell the stories that teach us to always lift each other up.
Saskia has a rich musical history as a vocalist, pianist, cellist, and songwriter. In the past, Saskia apprenticed at Madison Opera under artistic director John DeMain, presented premiere Dutch-language lieder at Boston University studying with Professor James Demler, and has received such awards for her musicianship as the Becknell-Gilbert Choral Award. Saskia is also an imaginative musico-literary writer, winning Boston University's College Prize for Excellence in English, the 2023 Gregory Hudson Award for Writing Excellence, and the 2022 Alice Brennan Humanities Award.
Saskia has been with Juventas since February 2021. Her favorite part of the job is the opportunity to connect with emerging composers and hearing them tell their unique stories.
